Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)

The culmination of SFX, CGI, Props, Makeup, Costumes, Soundtrack, Casting and Marvel storyline with a very good dose of humor thrown in, make this unique new film an absolute masterpiece, over and above anything remotely similar thus far.

The unrivaled beauty of Zoe Saldana, whom I was mesmerized by in Columbiana, simply shines in this role, what an asset to any production. A star studded cast provides a secure balance to the entertainment, with acting you've come to expect from a handful of the very best in the business.

If you love Sci Fi, adore the seemingly endless array of futuristic gadgets, weapons and beings, while firmly grasping a reality check with retro objects such as the ever prominent 'walkman' then this film will not disappoint.

Another highlight is definitely the soundtrack, whereby a multitude of well known songs are used in, some a little odd at first, though they do grow on you and are totally fitting.

If I could, I'd rate this 11 out of 10, enjoy.

Into the Storm (2014)

Very intriguing movie that I didn't know what to expect of when walking in. Was almost a mix between documentary and feature film. The graphics are incredible, the story is compelling, and very emotional. Will definitely be adding this one to my DVD purchase list. The direction is wonderful too- the camera angles, the pace of the film, as well as the acting. I had my jaw dropped at many points of this movie and there is some wonderful comic relief throughout. Definitely for fans of Twister and those who enjoy an action film packed with a storyline that is compelling emotionally. After leaving, I felt more aware of the recent natural disasters that have plagued the world- and almost feel it was a point for the filmmakers. This film puts you in a first-person perspective of what a storm of this nature is like, as well as the lives it affects. Anyone can see a news report and think how terrible it must be- but films like this really put it into a personal perspective.

Wolves (2014)

But I got the copy earlier than expected.
Enjoy and have fun!

Dracula Untold (2014)

When I first saw the trailer to this movie I was not all that enticed to see it; however, my boyfriend was. So, for him, I decided I would go and give it a try. I love going to the theaters. This movie was not what I expected at all, it was so much better than what I could have imagined. I just finished watching Dracula Untold not even 30 minutes ago. I came straight home and immediately searched to see if a sequel will be made. Luke Evans plays a great role. I really enjoyed how they depicted Dracula in this storyline changing the whole meaning or thought of Dracula. I thought it was an Excellent movie and I enjoyed every minute of it. Overall, I really hope they continue the storyline and turn it into a sequel or more if possible. I truly did not expect to enjoy it this much. I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I did.

Annabelle (2014)

I never knew about the film when i first heard. But it was breathtaking. Not the James Wan kind of horror, but indeed a good one. This film has got a lot of jumps and scares which keeps you scared till the end. Not much story, but sound effects certainly did a good job with fine camera positions.

This is not a conjuring kind of film. so, not to compare both. There are certain scenes which takes us to the edge of the seat. And thats what we expect...Don't we?? But why do Annabelle need a soul??? Thatz sound amusing. Isn't it?? As a whole, this film is worth watch twice in theatres. If Horror is your Genre, then this is the film!!!

The Boxtrolls (2014)

The message it passes is so cool, smart, real and current. I mean, it shows how some people will choose to spend money on a huge cheese than on a children's hospital. And some will work hard stepping on other people just to get things that are not even good for them, but they desire it anyway. Some will believe blindly in lies just because a number of people talk about it. But there's also the bright side, like people realizing their mistakes and choosing to redeem themselves, people who will really listen to you and and think for themselves, with no prejudice. I for one could and can identify all those kinds of people throughout my life. I really liked The Boxtrolls, and my eight- year-old nephew too. Keep an open mind and go watch it. :)

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014)

Humans generally have a superiority complex that makes them often consider all other forms of life as inadequate. Civilization has exemplified the mass exploitation and selfishness humans are capable of in the past, and present, on numerous occasions. The Planet of the Apes series delves on this complex. It displays the vulnerabilities of the human race and how nothing is to be underestimated.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes will surely entertain. As the sequel to the last instalment, we follow Caesar in his new habitat following the human pandemic instigated by the Simian influenza. In a world where the human population is depleted and infrastructure collapsed, society is broken apart and in a fragile state. With stubborn and selfish humans, the fate of humanity does not rest in good hands.

Watching this film, I cannot say there ever was a moment of dullness nor boredom. Though, for me, there was nothing exceptional about it. The plot is one that we have come to expect and the CGI was certainly state of the art. Putting this aside, it is the story of Caesar and the strive for freedom of all that captures this movie's true essence. Empathizing with these intelligent beings no longer being the tools of humans is one to both support and fear. It is this unique mixture of elements that make Dawn of the Planet of the Apes so touching yet stimulating.

This is a movie I'd recommend all to see since it offers a perspective many contemporary films fail to produce.
