A Haunted House 2 (2014)

A Haunted House 2 is a pretty good movie. Its funny and a little better than the first one. A lot of people are saying its really bad and dumb. They just don't get the humor behind it. Its supposed to be a little racist, dumb, raunchy, and corny to be able get a little bit of every comedic aspect. Now it does go a little to far with the sex scenes ( unfortunately with the doll) but at the end of it all it was a pretty good movie.and plus if you didn't really like the first movie don't always expect the second one to be completely better.because you know what they say about movies.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 (2014)

Mockingjay is a study in charisma and political leadership, and a text-film on acting.

Donald Sutherland, Julliane Moore and Jennifer Lawrence present three clear variations on the theme of "How Leaders Lead." This, along with a somewhat heavy handed study on propaganda are the movies primary attractions.

This is not the kind of action film audiences of the first two "Hunger Games" movies enjoyed. There is a fair amount of fighting, but this movie is about charisma: Who has it, how its used and what it means. At this, "Mockingjay Part 1" is brilliant, primarily because Jennifer Lawrence HAS charisma. At several points in the movie, watching Lawrence draw me into her Katniss Everdean, I thought of politicians who were able to evoke passion in the populace. Lawrence has that ability in large quantities.

I also found the direction of the film to be outstanding. A particularly well-crafted scene occurs early when the Rebel's leadership are asked to suggest moments when Katniss was most effective at touching the spirits of the populace. This scene not only approaches a breach of the fourth wall, it could have caused viewers to suspend their "suspension of disbelief." But through precise timing and a brilliant performance by Woody Harrelson this scene succeeds in getting the audience involved interactively as we are invited to think of those moments from previous movies and nod our heads as we sub-vocalize our "Uh-Huh's."

This movie is about the why and the how of making of "The Mockingjay-the symbol of the revolution."

A Merry Friggin' Christmas (2014)

"Get in the truck Gladys, we've got Christmas to save." Boyd (McHale) has just learned that he will be spending Christmas with his father Mitch (Williams) and the rest of his family. What should be a happy time becomes stressful for everyone when Boyd realizes that he left his son's presents at home. After his car breaks down Mitch and Boyd set out on a road trip to save Christmas. I've thought of ways to start this review without starting with the obvious but I can't. Robin Williams was my 2nd favorite actor (behind Al Pacino) and I was devastated at the news. That both helps and hurt the movie. I think it helps because (right or wrong) the movie will get more exposure than it probably would have got otherwise. On the other hand it is impossible to watch this without thinking of what happened and that takes you out of the movie. All that said I thought the movie was very funny and I recommend it, but the comedy is hurt knowing that this is one of the last times you will get to see the genius of Robin Williams at work. Seeing him play a crotchety old man paired with the McHale who plays a father trying way to hard is a perfect combination and the chemistry really works. This is one of those movies where things seem to just get worse and worse but at the same time funnier and funnier. Every member of the family adds something different and that makes it very fun to watch. Overall, a movie that is very funny but contains an unintentional tinge of sadness.

John Wick (2014)

What a great movie, This movie is a non-stop fun roller-coaster ride. I love Keanu Reeves. He is perfect in this film. This is the type of movie people will see over and over again. Waited in a long line to see it but it was well worth it. Amazing special effects, great acting, great everything. Best movie I have seen all year. Keanu Reeves is back after a long break and he is better than ever. This is like a combination of Speed and the Matrix combined. Directors Leitch and Stahelski have created a beautiful looking action picture, one that is large enough to deserve the IMAX experience.John Wick is the real deal. It is a amazing action picture, filled with strong performances by a cast, along with superb action set-pieces and a genuinely interesting world to boot. Reeves commands the screen and reminds us why he is still a genuine movie star.

Dumb and Dumber To (2014)

LIke many others I thought this movie was going to be that sequel you wish they didn't make. Because I love Dumb and Dumber. And it seemed the only reason they made this sequel is because the directors and one of the actors haven't been doing good stuff, the last couple of years.

But surprisingly, Dumb and Dumber To is actually pretty fun. Sure some things have changed that aren't so great. The jokes are hit-and-miss, sometimes the timing is way off and the characters of Lloyd and Harry are a little more mean-spirited and maybe even a little too dumb at times. But on the other hand everyone really did their best to make this feel like a Dumb and Dumber film. Unlike the god-awful prequel this film really feels like Dumb and Dumber and it's actually fun to see some scenes re-created, but with a new little twist, or characters from the original film returning. And even though some jokes and scenes are forced, I have to admit the film actually had a great deal of scenes that made me laugh a lot.

So as a big fan of the original film I was surprised that I enjoyed this film as much as I did. Let's all not expect a masterpiece, but a film we can enjoy, that pays a nice homage to the original and well

Hello Ladies: The Movie (2014)

I really enjoyed the Show, & being familiar with Merchants work, i felt it was a very good effort all round. The cancellation of shows can sometimes be annoying, but with Hello Ladies, a TV movie to round things off, should maybe show other cancelled shows how to give a little bit of "payback" to people who spent time watching their show.

The film is nothing groundbreaking, but it is certainly entertaining & well worth just over an hour of anyones time. A good effort from all the cast, a pretty safe but steady plot, overall i scored this 7 !! Merchant did a great job with the series & a good job with the film.

The Dragons of Camelot (2014)

The Kingdom of Camelot is plunged into darkness after the death of noble King Arthur, as the reign of his cruel sorceress sister, Morgan, begins. Commanding three deadly dragons with her dark magic, she hunts the remaining Knights of the Round Table to the ends of the Earth. Galahad realises that in order to succeed, they must find his father, Lancelot, who has been in exile for years. Only then will they be able to journey back to Camelot, defeat Morgan and her dragons, and rescue the Lady Guinevere and the wizard, Merlin. Galahad, Lancelot, Percival and the other brave knights of the ancient order of legend make their perilous journey across hundreds of miles of treacherous terrain, facing hardships and danger at every turn, on an epic quest based on the classic tale of King Arthur and his loyal knights.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 (2011)

I am a huge fan of the Harry Potter books, they're all so great and magical. But I didn't think the film series were perfect at all, but they were still great movies. With that, I was extremely excited to see the end of the film franchise, and impressed with the trailers. So I had high expectations. And thankfully it did not disappoint, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II, blew past my already high expectations and I was enthralled!

The whole movie looked spectacular! The cinematography extremely well done, the art direction was incredible. The movie was beautiful to look at, the visuals were spectacular and truly Oscar worthy! The set designers, cinematographers really need to be awarded for their work, because it looks like they spend of time and money on the look of the film.

The cast of the film was pretty much perfect, they should all be applauded too. Emma Watson, as usual is and great and she'll have a bright career ahead of her. Rupert Grint is pretty much great also, he is a fine actor indeed. Daniel Radcliffe did an amazing job and was very memorable as Harry Potter. Although I think Ralph Fiennes was the star of the film, he did unbelievable job as the evil, crazy Lord Voldemort, I think he deserves an Oscar Nomination for his role. The rest of the cast were also great too.

We all grew up overtime with the series, we followed the adventures of Harry Potter for around 10 years, I think. It seems very weird that there will be no more Harry Potter films to look forward too. I will miss the franchise very much! However I am happy the series got an amazing ending. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II is not only the best film in the series, but it will probably be one of the best films of 2011. Everyone should see this film, even if they don't like past Harry Potter films.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 (2010)

This film is a nice break from the hectic pacing of the last ones. Ever since the third film, when 2 1/2 hours became much too short for an adequate adaptation of the books, the movies have been rather loveless attempts to squeeze just enough information into the limited time to allow for a superficial understanding of the main story lines. This one, on the other hand, takes its times, which is its greatest strength, and stays rather close to the book. On multiple occasions I was really surprised when another detail that wasn't strictly necessary to the main plot was graciously allowed its space.

This is a very good adaptation that makes me wish they had started making two-part movies out of the books earlier. And since it already covers about 3/4 of the book, I am looking forward to a similarly (or even more?) detailed second part.

Deliver Us from Evil (2014)

A very good scary movie. I think the critics knocking it just do not like the exorcism genre. If you liked The Rite or The Conjuring you will like this movie. A story with characters you care about. Also based on a true story which of course means there are certain liberties taken with it but that makes it more interesting. This was a scary movie with brains. The background and setting reminded me a bit of the movie Seven. The priest is the most interesting character. I normally am not a huge fan of Eric Bana but he plays the role of the detective well. This could also be classified as a crime thriller with a supernatural twist.

Lucy (2014)

I gave it good rating because it is one of the amazing movie i have seen in recent time. The way they have depicted the whole concept the pretty amazing.

Some part of the movie i an unable to understand like why she shoot an innocent Taxi driver just because he does not know English. I feel that part was not necessary as just after that they have shown that as soon as she reached hospital so she is able to understand all the things which was mention there.

Some of the things in this movie was good and some of the things went over from my mind as don't able to understand what directory want to show in the movie.

Overall i can say its worth watching one time.

Interstellar (2014)

Interstellar is a jaw-dropping, awe-inspiring, beautiful, complex and thrilling adventure. The film is a mix of Spielberg's warmth, Kubrick's brain and Malick's beauty.Visually it is one of the best film ever made if not the best. Totally, is it the best film ever made? i don't know. A film of this scope and ambition is sure to have some narrative flaws here and there but it is beyond my ability to judge a film like this and find flaws in first viewing. May be i need to see it again to find any flaws, hell why should i find flaws while enjoyed it immensely.

Performances were great. Hans Zimmer music was terrific and loud at times. Endurance docking and ghost subplot gave me chills. Some of the stuff is hard to understand like the Gravitational singularity, Relativity and 5 Dimensional space. But Nolan connected the dots between them very efficiently and mixed them with love and humanity. If you are a sucker for these things, the film will transcend you into it or else it feels overly sentimental.

Don't miss it. I recommend you to watch it.

The Book of Life (2014)

Book of life is one of the most colorful and original set designs I have every seen in an animated movie, especially in that is CGI animation.

This movie toke a real surrealistic style to the character design in order to pay homage to Mexican culture.

It's a classic fairy tale being told in a story within a story manner, with a museum tour guide telling a group of kids a fairy tale of three children who lives will effect the center of the universe, aka Mexico, when Gods gamble on what type of people they would be as adults.

Although as a semi-musical, the Glee approach in mixing in original content with contemporary hits kind of lessened the originality of the flick, but as a whole the movie was quite entertaining.

Extraterrestrial (2014)

As I got to 30 minutes into it, I thought I'll hate this movie. The beginning and the middle are cliché but the ending is a surprising twist even though a lot of the stuff is "borrowed". If you are a fan of sci-fi you will recognize certain ideas and scenes from older hit movies-series, but I guess it was all intentional with a goal to bring these to younger audiences. About the ending, I must say I didn't see that coming and at first it made me angry but then I recognized a character at the end and it all got clear. It had the perfect ending that made this movie unique. As I look back I realize the movie makers actually had the intention of mixing up a classic teenage horror with the classic sci-fi - conspiracy theory genre. I do recommend this film if you are into the genres I mentioned earlier.

Leprechaun: Origins (2014)

When you watch this film it was very obvious that I want to show to people what "reboot" means. Clearly they wanted with this remake more horror and less comedy, which seem not to work at all. Because really the funny part of the leprechaun film was what it made so great, combined with Horror.

What they do with the remake is doing a complete horror film and that is not the way to Honor the original first Leprechaun film. The Leprechaun in this remake is made as a creature; like a monster. And the thing what was so important in the original was that the leprechaun isn't a monster or a creature. He is a character.

Watch it and tell me what in your mind?

Ouija (2014)

Sunday evening, I went and saw the movie "Ouija". I insisted I would not see this movie, because to be honest I was too scared. Something about summoning spirits just horrifies me! But I went with a few friends so that comforted me a little. I was extremely anxious going into the movie because I was so scared and after watching it, I had every right to be! This movie was definitely scary. Maybe it is because I was already nervous but I will say I was not disappointed! The movie had me jumping and covering my eyes the entire time! My friend next to me was squeezing my hand so hard, I thought all blood circulation was going to stop in my hand! Coming home that night, I was so scared I had to walk in with my flashlight on my phone just to turn on the lights in my house! As scary and good as it was, I wouldn't say this will go down in the "Horror Movie Hall of Fame" but it is definitely one I would suggest to anyone to go see!

Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)

The culmination of SFX, CGI, Props, Makeup, Costumes, Soundtrack, Casting and Marvel storyline with a very good dose of humor thrown in, make this unique new film an absolute masterpiece, over and above anything remotely similar thus far.

The unrivaled beauty of Zoe Saldana, whom I was mesmerized by in Columbiana, simply shines in this role, what an asset to any production. A star studded cast provides a secure balance to the entertainment, with acting you've come to expect from a handful of the very best in the business.

If you love Sci Fi, adore the seemingly endless array of futuristic gadgets, weapons and beings, while firmly grasping a reality check with retro objects such as the ever prominent 'walkman' then this film will not disappoint.

Another highlight is definitely the soundtrack, whereby a multitude of well known songs are used in, some a little odd at first, though they do grow on you and are totally fitting.

If I could, I'd rate this 11 out of 10, enjoy.

Into the Storm (2014)

Very intriguing movie that I didn't know what to expect of when walking in. Was almost a mix between documentary and feature film. The graphics are incredible, the story is compelling, and very emotional. Will definitely be adding this one to my DVD purchase list. The direction is wonderful too- the camera angles, the pace of the film, as well as the acting. I had my jaw dropped at many points of this movie and there is some wonderful comic relief throughout. Definitely for fans of Twister and those who enjoy an action film packed with a storyline that is compelling emotionally. After leaving, I felt more aware of the recent natural disasters that have plagued the world- and almost feel it was a point for the filmmakers. This film puts you in a first-person perspective of what a storm of this nature is like, as well as the lives it affects. Anyone can see a news report and think how terrible it must be- but films like this really put it into a personal perspective.
